Great Flooring Starts With Great Subfloor Prep: Uplift, Plywood, Screed — We Handle It All

Everyone loves the big reveal — the shiny new LVT, the plush carpet, the “wow, is that really my place?” moment.

But here’s the truth no one wants to hear:

If the prep is rubbish, the floor will be too.

At Branew Flooring, we don’t do half‑jobs, shortcuts, or “that’ll do”. We build floors properly — ensuring your new floor looks better, lasts longer, and performs exactly as it should.

Whether your subfloor prep is uplift, plywood, screed, moisture control, levelling… we handle every stage with precision.

Because great flooring doesn’t start with the product.

It starts with the prep.

🧹 1. Uplift: Clearing the Way for a Fresh Start

Before anything new goes down, the old has to come up — properly.

We remove:

  • Old carpets and underlay

  • Laminate or engineered wood

  • Damaged LVT or vinyl

  • Tiles (where required)

  • Adhesives and residues

A clean, stable surface is essential. Rushing this step leads to bumps, dips, and movement later on. We take the time to do it right.

🟫🪵 2. Plywood & Feather Screed: Strengthening Timber Floors

If you’ve got a timber subfloor, plywood is often the hero of the story.

We use high‑quality flooring‑grade plywood to:

  • Create a smooth, even surface

  • Strengthen weak or uneven boards

  • Prevent movement under LVT or vinyl

  • Reduce noise and bounce

  • Give you a flawless, even base

Once installed, it’s feather‑finished and ready for your chosen flooring. No ridges. No imperfections. Just a flawless base.

🏗️ 3. Screed: Perfecting Concrete Subfloors

Concrete floors often look “fine” to the eye — but even tiny imperfections can show through modern flooring.

That’s where screed comes in.

We apply professional smoothing compounds to:

  • Level uneven concrete

  • Fill dips and imperfections

  • Create a perfectly flat, durable surface

  • Ensure your flooring adheres correctly

A well‑screeded floor is the difference between a floor that looks good on day one… and one that still looks good in ten years.

Types of Subfloor Prep We Handle

Every home is different, and so is every subfloor. Here’s a quick look at the prep methods we use to guarantee the best results.

🔧 Latex Screed

Ideal for smoothing concrete and creating a flexible, level surface.

🧱 Self‑Levelling Compound

Perfect for deeper dips or uneven areas that need a precision‑flat finish.

🟫 Plywood Overlay

Used on timber floors to stabilise and smooth before fitting LVT, vinyl, or laminate.

💧 Moisture Barriers

Essential when concrete has higher moisture levels — protecting your new floor from future damage.

🧩 Feather Finish

A fine skim to eliminate micro‑imperfections before installation.

Why Subfloor Prep Matters – And Why We Don’t Skip It

Because without it, even the best flooring will:

  • Lift

  • Crack

  • Dip

  • Squeak

  • Wear unevenly

Prep isn’t the “boring bit”— It’s essential as it’s the foundation of everything.

We Handle It All — Start to Finish

From uplift to the final plank, we take care of every detail so your floor isn’t just beautiful… it’s built to last.

If you want a floor that performs as good as it looks, it starts with the prep — and that’s where we shine.
