Safety Vinyl Flooring Installation at Stockport School Science Lab

Project Overview

Branew Flooring Ltd recently completed a flooring refurbishment project at Stockport School, transforming one of the school’s science labs with a practical, hard-wearing and easy-to-maintain safety vinyl floor.

The existing floor covering was uplifted and removed, exposing the subfloor beneath. Our team then carried out the necessary preparation works, including cleaning, priming and applying smoothing compound/screed to create a suitable surface ready for the new floor finish.

Once the preparation was complete, we installed Polyflor Verona Dolphin Grey safety vinyl, providing the science lab with a smart, clean and durable finish suitable for a busy educational environment.

Polyflor’s Polysafe Verona PUR Original range is described by Polyflor as a slip-resistant safety vinyl flooring, suitable for heavy traffic areas where there is a risk of spillage, with PUR reinforcement for cleaning benefits. The Dolphin Grey 5203 shade is listed by Polyflor as part of the Polysafe Verona PUR Original range, with an adhered installation method and matching weld rod 5203.

The Challenge

Science labs experience regular foot traffic and need flooring that can cope with day-to-day use, cleaning routines and potential spillages.

The existing floor required a full uplift and preparation before the new safety flooring could be installed. The preparation stage was essential to ensure the new vinyl had a smooth, stable and suitable base.

The photos show the room during the preparation stages, including areas of old adhesive residue, exposed subfloor, patch repairs and smoothing compound being applied prior to the final installation.
