### Flooring Excellence in Sustainable Living: Our Work with Bridgestone Construction

Recently, we had the opportunity to collaborate with Bridgestone Construction on their ambitious zero-net carbon apartment project in Eccles, Manchester. This development features a blend of apartments, houses, and bungalows, all meticulously designed to minimise environmental impact while providing residents with exceptional living spaces.

Our role as the flooring contractors for this pioneering project was multifaceted, encompassing a range of specialised techniques and high-quality materials to ensure durability and aesthetic appeal across residential and communal areas.

**Meticulous Floor Preparation**

A crucial aspect of our work involved comprehensive floor preparation. Utilising advanced latex screed, we ensured a level and stable foundation throughout the buildings. The implementation of a damp proof membrane (DPM) was vital in protecting the interiors from moisture, thereby extending the lifespan of the flooring. Additionally, our application of plywood with feather screed provided a smooth surface that flawlessly complemented the subsequent flooring choices.

**Thoughtful Design Choices for Living Spaces**

In the kitchens, we installed Camaro LVT (luxury vinyl tiles) in a precise straight pattern. This not only enhances the visual appeal of the space but also offers resilience against the wear and tear of daily use. For the bathrooms, our choice of Polysafe Quattro with coved skirting in the wet rooms met stringent safety and hygiene standards—an essential consideration for any residential project.

**Durability Meets Functionality at Entrances**

Understanding the high traffic demands at the entrances of each property and the main access points of the apartment block, we adhered Heckmondwike entrance matting. This durable solution not only protects the integrity of the flooring but also contributes to overall safety by minimising slip hazards.

**Safety in Design for Communal Areas**

In the communal areas, we installed Polyflor Wood FX across the hallways and stairs, providing a warm wood-like aesthetic that enhances the ambience of the building. To further elevate safety, we incorporated peel and stick nosing on the risers. This feature is particularly significant in high-traffic zones, as it improves visibility and reduces the risk of falls.
